Naval Surface Warfare Center Awards Contract

Crane, IN – May 7, 2010 - The latest accomplishment by Daniel Defense is the contract being awarded by the Navy Office of Legislative Affairs.  This is a $9,500,000 firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for a Rail Interface System II (RIS-II) for the M4A1 Carbine in support of the U.S. Special Operations Command’s (USSOCOM) Weapons Accessories Program.

The Daniel Defense RIS II is an innovative upgrade for the M4A1, M16A4 and MK18 CQB/R. The RIS II was designed at the request of the United States SOCOM for the SOPMOD II weapons system. SOCOM had a specific requirement for a free float M203 40mm grenade launcher and Daniel Defense responded. The RIS II allows the individual operator to free float the M203 grenade launcher without the use of additional parts or special tools. This was accomplished by integrating all the needed parts to free float the M203 into the rail itself. After years of rigorous testing by Special Forces Operators, Daniel Defense was selected as the Sole Source Provider of the RIS II to SOCOM. Daniel Defense has delivered thousands of units and they are currently being fielded by SOCOM units.

RIS II production will be performed in Black Creek, Georgia and is expected to be completed by May 2015. This contract was not competitively procured. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, Crane, Indiana is the contracting activity (N00164−10-D-JN70).

The Navy point of contact is Landon Hutchens at (202) 781−4832. The industry point of contact is Jay Duncan at (866) 554−4867.

Daniel Defense continues to be the industry leader in the design and manufacture of rail systems and hand guards. Chosen to be the provider of rails for the US Military’s Elite Special Operations Units, as well as being the sole provider of rails to the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence, Daniel Defense takes pride in being masters of design and manufacturing.

This contract as well as others insures Daniel Defense’s stability and longevity as a manufacturer of SMALL ARMS SOLUTIONS™ that are LIGHTER. STRONGER. BETTER…™ and proudly made in the U.S.A.
